NBAMS 8th grade art students recently completed an animal-themed scratchboard project with art teacher, Lee Ann Falen. Students emphasized value variety and use of texture.
Scratchboard is an "unforgiving" medium since once you scratch away the dry layer of black ink, you cannot bring it back. Students free-hand scratched a wide variety of animals, including cats, dogs, farm animals, deer, owls and a fly, to name a few. Many of the projects were based on their own pets!
