Middle school students recognized by school board
The NBAPS school board held its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m. in room 126 of the North Branch Area Education Center. The agenda included the superintendent's report, a number of policy actions, and more. Here is a podcast and meeting materials from the meeting.

Supt.'s report: In honor of School Boards Recognition Week (Feb. 19-23) Supt. Henton honored school board members for their service and the unique set of skills and experiences that each school board member brings to the role. She thanked each school board member for their dedication and service.

Middle school principal Todd Tetzlaff summarized the great things happening at the middle school and honored students Kobe Yang and Elayna Goeltl for their excellence in the school and regional spelling bee, and Brian Bossard for his performance in the geography bee.

Community Relations Coordinator Patrick Tepoorten highlighted the high school's new registration handbook and district marketing postcard.

Open mic: A number of people spoke on behalf of keeping the school district's transportation dept.

Policy: A number of policies were approved. For a complete list, see the meeting materials.

In other news: The school board directed administration to make a recommendation for budget reductions to address the $1.5 million deficit.
